The Opportunity
GagaMuller is supporting the delivery of a data centre development in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.
The MEP Project Manager will play a key role in coordinating and managing the delivery of Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health systems throughout the project lifecycle.
Working closely with Project Directors, Design Managers, Construction Managers, MEP contractors, specialist vendors, commissioning teams, and client representatives, you will oversee MEP activities from design development and procurement through construction, testing, commissioning, and handover.
The role will be responsible for ensuring MEP works are delivered safely, to the required quality standards, within programme requirements, and in accordance with project specifications and client expectations.
This is an opportunity to work on a major mission-critical development while gaining exposure to one of Canada’s largest hyperscale data centre programmes.
Responsibilities:
1. Scope & Delivery Management
- Manage and coordinate the delivery of Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health systems throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate MEP activities across design, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover.
- Review MEP design deliverables and technical submissions to ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Monitor MEP installation progress against project programmes and key milestones.
- Identify potential delays, technical constraints, and delivery risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
- Coordinate MEP construction activities to ensure works are delivered in accordance with approved designs and specifications.
- Support the successful completion of testing, commissioning, system turnover, and operational readiness activities.
- Ensure MEP systems are delivered in accordance with client standards, project specifications, applicable codes, and regulatory requirements.
2. Stakeholder Coordination
- Act as a key interface between the client, design consultants, MEP contractors, specialist subcontractors, equipment vendors, and project delivery teams.
- Lead and participate in MEP coordination meetings, technical reviews, progress meetings, and interface workshops.
- Coordinate closely with Project Management, Design, Construction, Commercial, Scheduling, Quality, BIM, and Commissioning teams.
- Support contractor and subcontractor coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review and resolve technical queries, RFIs, design coordination issues, and construction interfaces.
- Maintain effective communication across all project disciplines.
- Promote accountability and ownership across MEP delivery teams.
3. Risk & Compliance Management
- Identify, monitor, and manage MEP-related project risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review technical submissions, proposed design changes, and value engineering proposals.
- Assess the impact of design and scope changes on programme, cost, quality, and commissioning.
- Monitor contractor compliance with approved designs, specifications, project procedures, and contractual requirements.
- Support quality inspections, testing activities, and commissioning readiness reviews.
- Ensure MEP works comply with applicable Canadian regulations, codes, standards, and client requirements.
- Escalate technical, programme, quality, and delivery risks to senior project leadership where required.
4. Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare and maintain MEP progress reports, dashboards, risk registers, and project updates.
- Track MEP milestones, deliverables, technical queries, RFIs, submittals, and outstanding actions.
- Review and maintain technical documentation throughout project delivery.
- Support preparation of client presentations and senior stakeholder reporting.
- Maintain accurate records of technical decisions, approvals, changes, and project correspondence.
- Support the review and close-out of MEP handover documentation, including as-built information, testing records, O&M documentation, and commissioning records.
- Provide regular updates on MEP progress, risks, issues, and recovery actions.
5. Collaboration & Integration
- Work collaboratively with CSA, BIM, Commercial, Quality, Scheduling, Project Controls, Construction, and Commissioning teams.
- Ensure MEP activities are fully integrated with the wider project delivery programme.
- Coordinate MEP interfaces with CSA works, ICT, BMS/controls, OFCI equipment, and specialist systems.
- Support integration of MEP procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational readiness activities.
- Work with Cost Management teams to monitor MEP package expenditure, changes, and commercial performance.
- Support tender evaluations, contractor selection, procurement, and commercial review activities where required.
- Promote continuous improvement and best practice across MEP project delivery.
- Foster a proactive, collaborative, and solutions-focused project environment.
Qualifications:
- Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of MEP systems and building services engineering.
- Strong understanding of construction project delivery and MEP coordination.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
- Knowledge of construction quality, commissioning, and project delivery processes.
- Professional engineering designation or equivalent professional accreditation is advantageous.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project delivery processes.
What Experience We Are Looking For
- 8+ years’ experience delivering Mechanical, Electrical, or MEP systems on major construction projects.
- Proven experience working on Data Centre, Mission Critical, Industrial, Pharmaceutical, Life Sciences, Semiconductor, Infrastructure, or Energy projects.
- Demonstrable experience managing MEP design, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
- Experience coordinating MEP contractors, specialist subcontractors, consultants, vendors, and client stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of MEP procurement, construction sequencing, programme management, and project controls.
- Experience reviewing technical submissions, RFIs, shop drawings, design changes, and construction documentation.
- Experience managing MEP interfaces across multidisciplinary construction environments.
- Understanding of commissioning and operational readiness requirements for mission-critical facilities.
- Experience working in client-side, consultancy, contractor, or PMC environments is advantageous.
- Strong ability to manage multiple priorities and resolve technical and delivery issues within fast-paced construction environments.
- Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
