The Opportunity:

The Mechanical Project Manager / Owner’s Representative (OR) is responsible for leading, coordinating, and overseeing all mechanical workstreams on the project, acting on behalf of the client to ensure the Mechanical scope of the General Contractor (GC), specialist subcontractors, and mechanical equipment vendors deliver in full accordance with the project’s design, schedule, quality, and commercial requirements.

In this role, you will represent the client’s interests on site and throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring full alignment between mechanical scope execution and the wider multidisciplinary delivery programme. You will collaborate closely with CSA and Electrical ORs, the Design Team, Commissioning Authority (CxA), and the wider PMC team across quality, schedule, cost, and design management functions.

The Mechanical PM/OR will ensure the mechanical works are executed safely, meet all technical specifications, and are fully coordinated with other trades. You will proactively manage contractor performance, submittals, RFIs, installation progress, commissioning readiness, interface coordination, logistics, and handover requirements while supporting the establishment of project controls and delivery processes.

Key Responsibilities

1. Scope & Delivery Management

  • Act as the primary client-facing representative for all mechanical works on the project.
  • Oversee GC delivery performance across planning, procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Monitor mechanical installation progress against programme milestones and drive recovery actions where required.
  • Ensure all mechanical systems are delivered in line with design intent, quality standards, and project specifications.
  • Support handover activities, including validation of as-built documentation, O&M manuals, training records, and punch list close-out.

2. Stakeholder Coordination

  • Coordinate mechanical works with electrical, CSA, ICT, controls/BMS, and OFCI vendor requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with the Design Team, CxA, contractors, and client stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participate in site walks, coordination meetings, interface reviews, and design workshops.
  • Ensure mechanical submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and technical documentation are reviewed and managed effectively.
  • Maintain strong communication between all project disciplines to support integrated delivery.

3. Risk & Compliance Management

  • Ensure all mechanical works comply with local regulations, client standards, health & safety requirements, and commissioning protocols.
  • Support the Quality Lead in supervising mechanical inspections, ITP execution, mock-ups, and issue resolution.
  • Identify project risks, technical issues, and interface conflicts, escalating and resolving them proactively.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with approved procedures, specifications, and safety standards.
  • Support commissioning readiness activities and ensure testing prerequisites are achieved.

4. Reporting & Documentation

  • Track and report progress against project schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Maintain oversight of mechanical documentation including RFIs, submittals, inspections, and commissioning records.
  • Provide regular project updates to the client and wider PMC leadership team.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of project risks, delays, and mitigation actions.
  • Review and validate mechanical completion and handover documentation.

5. Collaboration & Integration

  • Work collaboratively with CSA and Electrical Owner’s Representatives to ensure multidisciplinary alignment.
  • Support integration between construction, commissioning, and operational readiness activities.
  • Assist in establishing and improving project delivery processes and governance procedures.
  • Promote a collaborative and solutions-focused project environment across all stakeholders.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the wider project and PMC teams.

  • On-Site Requirement: Full-time site-based role in Kouvola, Finland.  

Qualifications

  • Relevant Mechanical qualification essential, e.g. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering. 
  • Previous experience in Project Management roles within complex construction environments. 
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and best practices. 
  • Strong technical understanding of mechanical systems and multidisciplinary coordination. 
  • Experience managing contractor and stakeholder relationships on major projects. 

What Experience Are We Looking For 

  • Experience in Design & Build construction environments. 
  • Previous experience delivering Commercial, Industrial, Pharma, or Data Centre projects. 
  • Proven ability to manage mechanical installations through construction, testing, and commissioning phases. 
  • Experience dealing with Industrial Relations issues and contractor management. 
  • Good technical knowledge of both Electrical and Mechanical systems.
