Equinix to acquire MainOne for $320m, expands into Africa

Equinix is to acquire west African data centre firm MainOne for $320 million, expanding operations into the African continent for the first time.


MainOne has three operational data centres in Nigeria, Ghana, and Cote d’Ivoire. Upon closing, these facilities will add more than 64,000 gross square feet (6,000 sqm) of space with a further 570,000 sq ft (52,300 sqm) of land for future expansions.

Oracle to close Linlithgow data centre in Scotland

Oracle is to reportedly close its Linlithgow data centre in Scotland early next year.

The facility totals 160,000 sq ft (14,900 sqm) and 10MW of power.

Africa Data Centres opens data centre in Lagos, Nigeria

Africa Data Centres has opened its new 10MW data centre facility in Lagos, Nigeria.


When fully built out, the data centre will comprise six data halls and 6,000 sqm (64,500 sq ft) of white space. In September, the company announced a $500 million plan to build 10 data centres across Africa over the next two years.

Namex to open IXP and data centre in Bari, Italy

Italian Internet exchange operator Namex has announced a new data centre and Internet exchange point (IXP) in the city of Bari.


Namex Bari, located in the port city on the Adriatic Sea and the capital of southern Italy’s Puglia region, will be available from the beginning of 2022.
