NextDC to build data centre in Darwin, Australia

Australian data centre firm NextDC is to build a data centre in Darwin in Australia’s Northern Territory.

The firm said this week it had purchased land in Darwin and plans to build a Tier III facility known as D1 in the city’s Central Business District. Land price and planned facility specifications weren’t shared.


Equinix announces plans for fifth data centre in Manchester, UK

Equinix is to build a new data centre in Manchester, UK.

The company this week announced plans for MA5, its fifth IBX facility in the city.

Phase 1 of the new facility – scheduled to open in Q2 2022 – will provide 3,600 sqm of colocation space. At full build-out, the site is expected to provide 6,480 sqm of colocation space. The facility will be located in the Agecroft Commerce Park in Salford.


DataBank announces expansion to existing facility in Kansas City

DataBank has announced the expansion of its KC3 facility in Kansas City, Kansas.


The company said it is building out Data Halls 2 and 3 at the facility; the project adds 9,300 sq ft in Data Hall 2, and 8,050 sq ft in Data Hall 3, as well as an additional 2MW of capacity to the building.

DataBank first announced KC3 in 2018. The facility is located at 11200 Lakeview Ave in the Lenexa suburb.


Liberum Navitas launches project to build network of 15 data centres across Russia

Russian ICT firm Liberum Navitas has announced a project to build a network of 15 data centres across the country.

The company this week said it has launched a large federal investment project to create an all-Russian network of data centres united by a single fiber-optic communication line. The company is aiming to deliver the facilities within two years.

Each data centre will host 500 server racks, with Moscow due to house 2,000 racks. The total initial capacity of the project will amount to 9,000 racks.
