MEP Quantity Surveyor

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated MEP Quantity Surveyor to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in a mission critical environment, on behalf of the Project Management Consultancy overseeing the MEP Contractors performance, managing progress and change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare feasibility studies, cost estimates and benchmarking analysis.
  • Assist in the procurement process, including the preparation of procurement documentation.
  • Prepare tender documentation, including BOQs, Schedules of rates.
  • Evaluate tender returns and provide recommendation reports
  • Conduct cost analysis and identify potential value engineering opportunities.
  • Become familiar with the clauses of the conditions of contract on the project and the associated contract documents i.e. works requirements, schedules, etc.
  • Negotiate and agree variations, progress payments and final accounts with Contractors
  • Proactively manage the change process, assessing and managing changes to project scope, particularly evaluating their impact on cost, and communicating changes to stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the identification of risk throughout the project, and propose contingency plans or mitigation strategies where possible.
  • Review programme, RFI schedules, submittal schedules, purchasing updates – to  ensure items are closed out in a timely manner
  • Conduct accurate quantity-take-off using BIM enabled software.
  • Carry out site visits and attend meetings, site meetings, internal meetings, client meetings and subcontractor meetings and contribute to the meetings where necessary.
  • Monitor package progress on site
  • Prepare monthly cost reports, forecasts & valuations for the MEP packages
  • Prepare cashflow forecast and earned value analysis
  • Overseeing the conclusion of the Contractors final account, including the preparation of a final account report for the client
  • Maintain a tracker to monitor the status of the Contractors Insurances and Warranties
  • Ensure close collaboration with the Project Managers, BIM Management Team, Scheduling and Construction Team to ensure sharing relevant project information, exchanging data and insights, and aligning efforts to ensure seamless integration of activities and accurate project planning.
  • Establish effective communication channels, foster collaboration amongst stakeholders, facilitate or conduct project meetings, and keep all relevant parties informed of project progress.
  • Utilise BIM and digital construction tools proficiently to streamline project collaboration and data management processes.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and understanding of the MEP services required for Data Centre construction
  • Experience in managing MEP cost control on large scale construction projects
  • 5+ years of experience in MEP QS industry (post-qualification)
  • Strong QS skills and experience in managing multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Experience in using QS Software (e.g. CostX, Cubit)
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-functional team

Qualifications

  • NFQ Level 7 minimum educational qualification in a Quantity Surveying / Construction Economics discipline.
  • Strong verbal, written, and organisational skills.
