Laser Scanning



Laser scanning or point clouds need to be seen, not as an expensive tool which gives you a dimensionally correct 3D visual of your project, but more as a vaildation fail safe for everything from design to installation checks.
How do we do it?
It is a collaborative approach that allows us to assess the accuracy of installation of each building or infrastructure by mapping or reality capturing laser points. This quickly captures the complete detail of the entire building construction project—much like a camera taking a 360-degree photo, but with an accurate xyz position for every pixel. This detailed 3D representation of the building project is often called a point cloud.

These devices scan, measure and record each distance between the scanner and the surrounding area. The survey is accurate enough to record two million points per second. Multiple point clouds can be simultaniously assembled to obtain a reliable digital construction point cloud with a precision to the millimetre, which we can overlay onto a design or construction BIM Model similar to tracing paper to review and vaidate the installation. From an istall point of view, it is crucial to ensure that the works on the construction are representative of the coordinated Design information. The Point Cloud Surveying is the only reliable method to validate on-site installations. This allows for regular verification to allow the team to idetify inacuracies before they can have a detrimental impact on the rest of the project.
